    6. Community Nodes & Sub-Workflows

Extend n8n with community nodes and reusable sub-workflows.

    20m Lesson 6 of 6

The n8n ecosystem extends beyond built-in nodes. Community nodes add integrations for services not yet officially supported, and sub-workflows let you build reusable automation components.

    Community Nodes

Install third-party nodes from the n8n community: 1. Go to Settings → Community Nodes 2. Search for the package name 3. Install and restart

    Sub-Workflows

Use the "Execute Workflow" node to call another workflow as a function. This promotes reusability and keeps complex automations manageable.

    Pro Tips

    • 💡Popular community nodes include: n8n-nodes-browserless, n8n-nodes-text-manipulation
    • 💡Sub-workflows can accept parameters — pass data in and get results back
